Authority FX takes you into their free time by modeling a custom jockey for the zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead 2. First using Dynamesh inside Zbrush, the basemesh is blocked out while capturing the larger details. The model is then sent into 3D-Coat for retopology and UV unwrapping.

Back into Zbrush, the low res game mesh is then detailed using various brushes and techniques. The model is then painted using polypaint and taking full advantage of Zbrush’s layers to generate blood and dirt maps. Finally all the paint layers are comped together inside Photoshop before the model is then shown inside the game.
